What is Hockey Prognosticating?

In the game, participants pick the winners of a set of hockey games in a particular week and are placed in a knock-out system. Beat your opponent and move onto to the next round. It's easy, all you have to do is predict the winner of the match, the margin, and sometimes the score for a set of games listed.

Note:

- In case of a tie, a tie-breaker featuring winning margins or correct score will decide who moves on to the next round.


How to Sign-Up:

Just post here that you would like to play ("Im IN"). Entries will be based on ranking starting in Week 3 for this opening season. The first two weeks will be blind draw free-for-alls. Anyone can enter. :D

How to send in picks:

Picks can be sent in as soon as the "GAME LIST" is ready. Remember, you pick a winner in every game on the list! Picks should be sent by PM, so that your opponent does not know your picks. Picks should be titled: [HPT: Lethbridge 1st Round]. Picks must be sent in by the deadline stated in the GAME LIST.

Well, I sent the list anyway. I didn't look at any games, I had no idea the WHL started already but I'll leave it up to you, no biggie.

I assumed it coincided with the start of the NHL season, so I didn't pay much attention :(

Hey, I just checked on the WHL website, one game is 10 minutes in, so the game would not have started when I sent in my picks.

EDIT : oops, one game had the 1st just finish, so it would have started, but taht game is tied 1-1, so even if I did look, it wouldn't have helped by picking (though, I didn't look as I didn't even know there was anything to look for).

not only did they get moose jaw correct, they got the margin correct too (MA2: Moose Jaw 1) as the Warriors beat the Wheat Kings 4-3

Aeneas still has 6 differences left, he needs to win 5 or 6 of them to advance, 4 out of 6, he'll need some help with MAs.

The Hockey/CofR grudge match is even at 5-5. Hockey has the MA advantage 2 to 1 plus he got MA1 right.

PlayfulGenius is in the most trouble. Even though he got the Sask game perfectly (4-3), he is 2 down with only 2 differences left. He does have the MA advantage and MA1 so if both Medicine Hat and Vancouver to win tomorrow he'll probably advance.

The WHL schedule doesn't really have any games until Next Friday and Saturday so it's hard to make a game list. So I've taken 9 games from Tues/Wed/Fri and here are the semifinal and final game lists (9 games each). There are two deadlines. If you can't send for the final on Saturday, you can send for both now. If you don't make the final, those picks will be discarded.
